UConn Mentor Connection

UConn Mentor Connection is a program for students going into tenth or eleventh grades, and although it is geared towards Connecticut residents, they have no problem accepting students outside of Connecticut. The program gives students a chance ot work alongside professors or graduate students to explore whichever field they are interested in. I did the organic chemistry course with three other students helping a graduate student do lab work on their thesis project. The experience was fairly typical for working in a lab, but I did enjoy seeing how it was to work as a graduate student. The rest of the program was okay; there were scheduled activities every day, and there was free time to do other things with friends. I would mostly recommend this program for a student going to tenth grade and who would like to do hands on work in a field of their interest.
